This presentation will provide an overview of telemedicine (and specifically tele-mental health) technology, techniques, and research findings relevant to the administration, clinical practice, and evaluation of tele-mental health programs.

 

Objectives:

1. Participants will observe a live videoconferencing technology demonstration
2. Participants will be exposed to some of the most important legal, ethical, technological, and practical aspects of telemedicine
3. Participants will explore several evaluation models and common statistical tests used in mental health program evaluation
4. Participants will complete a mock evaluation to apply what they have learned
5. Participants will evaluate relevant research literature in tele-mental health

 

About the Presenter:

Jonathan Neufeld, Ph.D., H.S.P.P., is the founder and director of the Indiana Rural Health Specialty Exchange. The Exchange is a non-profit organization founded to establish an independent peer-to-peer telemedicine network in Indiana. Through INRHSE, Dr. Neufeld provides both consulting in telemedicine and direct mental health services to organizations seeking to integrate a full range of mental health services into their clinical offerings.

 

Prior to founding INRHSE, Dr. Neufeld was an Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychology in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento, California. He was also Research Manager at the UC Davis Center for Healthcare Policy and Research (formerly the Center for Health Services Research in Primary Care), where he provided project planning, research management, data analysis, and clinical services for a wide variety of health care technology related projects.

 

In addition to his work with INRHSE, Dr. Neufeld maintains a clinical practice in Goshen, Indiana focusing on the integration of medicine and mental health issues and working closely with area physicians to provided mental health care that complements and integrates with patients’ medical care.

Cancelation Cancelations for any fee-based ASPIN event must be made five (5) business days prior to the event, in order for fees to be refundable-
NO EXCEPTIONS. All cancelations must be made in writing by either fax or email.

Late Fee Registrations made after the published “Late Fee” date for any fee-based ASPIN event will incur a $10 late charge.
