Necessity
This presentation will focus on medical necessity from both the
payer and provider perspective. It will explore what medical
necessity means, how to document it, and what types of diagnostic
presentations can lead to a challenge in meeting medical necessity
criteria. Treatment planning will be discussed in relation to
medical necessity with a focus on assuring measurable outcomes and
clearly defined interventions. Finally, documentation examples will
also be provided allowing for audience participation in
“determining” what does or does not meet medical necessity criteria.
Workshop Objectives
1. Ability to define medical necessity
2. Ability to identify critical areas of documentation to reflect
medical necessity
3. Ability to understand critical areas of treatment planning
related to medical necessity
About the
Presenter:
Scott Migdole, LCSW , COO is the Chief Operating Officer of Yale
Behavioral Health and is an Assistant
Clinical Professor in the Yale Department of Psychiatry, Yale School
of Medicine. Mr. Migdole
manages a broad array of behavioral health services for adolescents
and adults, including
outpatient clinics, statewide juvenile detention mental health
services, vocational rehabilitation
programming and crisis services.

ASPIN Cancelation and Late
Fee Policy: Cancelation Cancelations for any fee-based ASPIN event must
be made five (5) business days prior to the event, in order for fees to
be refundable- NO EXCEPTIONS. All cancelations must be made in writing
by either fax or email.
Late Fee Registrations made after the published “Late Fee” date for any
fee-based ASPIN event will incur a $10 late charge. These policies apply
to both in-person and web-based trainings.
