Sustainable Telehealth Business Models for Rural Facilities Webinar

Objectives:  
1.  Participants will understand the basic principles of telehealth business, including costs and revenue sources from various perspectives.  
2.  Participants will discuss several alternative ways to structure telehealth programs to improve sustainability. 
3.  Participants will recognize and be able to name the keys to evaluating sustainability within various telehealth business models.

About the Speaker:
Jonathan Neufeld, Ph.D., H.S.P.P., is Clinical Director of the Upper Midwest Telehealth Resource Center.  The UMTRC is a consortium of telehealth providers led by the Indiana Rural Health Association, a not-for-profit corporation developed for the purpose of improving the health of Indiana citizens in rural settings.  The mission of the UMTRC is to leverage the diverse resources of its consortium members in the various domains of telehealth to improve access to healthcare services in underserved areas and enhance the quality and sustainability of rural healthcare across the Upper Midwest region.  

Dr. Neufeld provides oversight for the UMTRC along with specific consultation in technological aspects of telehealth and clinical telemental health services.  Dr. Neufeld has consulted on a wide range of projects related to rural health and telehealth with many organizations over the past 5 years, including the Indiana Rural Health Association, the Richard G. Lugar Center for Rural Health, and the Indiana State Department of Health.  

In addition to his work with the UMTRC, Dr. Neufeld operates Living Well Behavioral Health, a clinical health psychology practice located in Goshen, Indiana.  Living Well focuses on the integration of mental health and medical issues and works closely with area physicians to provided mental health care that integrates with and complements patients’ medical care.  

Before moving to Indiana, Dr. Neufeld was an Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychology in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento, California, and Senior Research Manager at the UC Davis Center for Healthcare Policy and Research (formerly the Center for Health Services Research in Primary Care).  There he collaborated on a wide range of clinical and research projects in the fields of mental health, primary care, and health care technology.  

While at UC Davis Medical Center Dr. Neufeld was an affiliate of the UC Davis Center for Health & Technology and a member of the Biomedical Informatics Research and Consulting Service.  He has published peer-reviewed articles in the fields of telemedicine, the psychophysiology of pain, hypnosis, mental health services evaluation, and clinical outcomes.
