The ASPIN Case Management Certificate Core Program covers critical skills case managers need to perform, such as working with families, communication, crisis intervention, assessment, interview techniques, and more.
Areas that will be covered include securing housing, financial management, daily living, interpersonal skills, social skills and education.
The ASPIN Case Management Core Certificate is awarded upon completion of four full-day sessions.
Classes meet from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. Participants may register for individual sessions or the full certificate program. Class size is limited, and a minimum number of participants is required.

Pharmacology & Mental Health– Module V
Participants will recognize the importance of medication monitoring, define the components and roles in the monitoring of self administration of medication, properly document the monitoring of self administration, understand classifications of frequently used medications, identify common side effects and the appropriate response, monitor the appropriate use of “PRN” medications – those taken “as needed” , understand medication terminology, symbols, abbreviations, medication orders, prescriptions, and bottle labels, identify and report medication errors and actively prevent errors from occurring, identify common side effects and the appropriate response, monitor the appropriate use of “PRN” medications – those taken “as needed” , understand medication terminology, symbols, abbreviations, medication orders, prescriptions, and bottle labels, and identify and report medication errors and actively prevent errors from occurring.

Case Managemmet Overview - Module I:
Module I-A: Participants will understand the significance of case management in the recovery process. Participants will be introduced to the standards of practice for case managers and practice using them as guides in providing services to clients. Participants will learn about the role and main function of the case manager in a mental health setting. Participants will understand various treatment models and typical strategies used throughout the treatment process.
Module I-B: Participants will learn about specific rights and entitlements of the consumer. Participants will understand the history of treatment for the mentally ill and understand the current trends in provision of services. Participants will become familiar with ways to work with clients who have difficulty in managing their emotions and how they can be more effective in the helping process. |
