Experiential Group Therapy Skills for a Variety of Populations

“Have a good group!” is something we often say as one of our
colleagues is off to facilitate a group process. This very
practical and hands-on workshop is designed to enhance your group
skills with a variety of populations, using experiential
techniques.

Specifically we
will have the opportunity to:
=Learn
a variety of ways to facilitate engagement in the group.
Intentionally sequence experiences and select interventions that
connect to treatment plan goals, and address present moment
experience.
=Develop
reflection and processing skills for experiential activities.
Identify and work with group themes.
=Create
effective interventions to deal with resistance.
=Adapt
interventions to the ages and diagnoses of your clients.
=Reflect
on yourself as an instrument of change and healing.
=Share
resources for ideas, materials, supplies
Target
Audience:
This seminar will be useful for new and/or experienced clinicians
who want to add an experiential component to their work with groups.
We will be working with a variety of creative mediums throughout the
day, so please come dressed comfortably, ready to join in the
process. Bring along an open mind, a good dose of curiosity, and a
generous spirit which will enhance our time together.
Presenter:
Sandy Carlson, LCSW, LMFT Sandy is the Vice President of Clinical
Services at Porter-Starke Services, Inc. in Valparaiso, IN. She
developed the Experiential Therapy program at Porter-Starke, and
loves working with all sorts of groups. She has been in clinical
practice for over 20 years. |
