New ASPIN
Management Webinar

October 30th

Any of these sound familiar?

  • John, 47, feels that paper based forms of communication is the best way to transmit policies and directives. Brenden, 23,  only checks his mailbox when the papers are falling on the floor. What can be done to help both employees better communicate.
  • Addison 25, has just graduated from with a Masters Degree, and is a new supervisor in your organization. She has instituted a web-based Wiki to allow her workers to share best practices. Bill 51, doesn't  know what a Wiki is, must less now to post to one. Addison is frustrated that none of her people are contributing. How can we address the different technology issues that arise with multigenerational workforces?
  • Mary ,56, often has to work in partnership with Brittney, a 20 year old case manager. Mary frequently works long hours to get the job done, but Brittney is reluctant to stay late or come in on the weekends if not scheduled. Mary thinks Brittney lacks a strong work ethic. Brittney thinks Mary needs to focus on her results, not her process. How can these two overcome their generational differences?

Topic: Leading Multiple Generations
Speaker:
Karl J. Ahlrichs, SPHR

To run a successful business with employees from multiple generations, you, the leaders, must adapt to a more employee-focused style. This is a real challenge for organizations struggling with attracting, developing, and retaining multiple generations in their workforce because the various generations' needs are so different. That the generations are different is not news. These conflicts are proof that our culture is in transition. Generations X and Y have taken the lead in driving these cultural changes, while Baby Boomers and the War Veterans continue to embrace the culture they helped to shape.

Any organization that hopes to remain successful is working hard right now at creating a workplace that welcomes a variety of cultural differences. You, as a leader, must rethink the way that you lead to include the varying styles of today's multigenerational workplace. Changing the way you do business to be competitive in this new world, while including and maximizing the talents of all generations, will not be easy or painless. However, it can be done with a combination of innovation, common sense, and an unwillingness to let the way you've always done things dictate what you can or will do in the future.

This training will discuss:

  • Employee centered leadership
  • Moving from function-based work towards project-based work
  • Multiple compensation options
  • Leveraging technology (while offering training on how to use it)
  • Providing flexible ways to learn
